I have had this blog for over a year but this is my first post…WHAT? It has been hard to figure out where to start, what to say…scared that I will look crazy. Let’s just jump right in.
The blog post is titled “The Lucky One” it is the title from a song on Taylor Swift’s new album RED.
This weekend my family & I were The Lucky Ones; we got to organize and participate in a benefit for a friend of ours from our second home and family (Drag Racing takes up a lot of our time). Teresa was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, this happened following losing her husband to cancer in March. To say Teresa is ready to be done with 2012 is an understatement. In 10 days, YES 10 DAYS we organized a race, raffles, t-shirts, stickers & auction for Teresa. At the end of the day we raised 4X as much money as we hoped.
I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family & extended family.
My hubby raced his 1968 Camaro in the race.
My talented, beautiful daughter sang the National Anthem.
I even used my creative side to create some auction items.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to make some pub glasses with an NHRA logo.
I designed a pendant that represents the starting lights at the drag race, also known as a “Christmas Tree”.
I also made to lap sized tie blankets that I didn’t get a picture of. One had a breast cancer ribbon and hearts and the other was more race-themed with flames.
I feel lucky to have been able to help with this benefit and hope that this helps make Teresa's battle just a bit less stressful. You are loved and supported Teresa.
